    1. I was never into Gamera movies much, the early ones just struck me as rather silly, and I'm not sure i ever finished one. But I watched Legion last year, and yes, definitely worth a watch for any kaiju fancier. Guess I'll need to re-visit the franchise.

    2. It is a great trilogy. To me Gamera grows up. After the first 2 original films Gamera became a kiddie show as did Godzilla. With a better story and bigger budget the films were well made and definitely worth viewing. I have not seen them in a while but I remember that Revenge of Iris ended on a cliffhanger and thus an opening for a fourth film. I will have to revisit them.

    3. Was trying to guess what “kaiju trilogy” you hinted at in the last video Terry, I was betting on Daiei’s excellent period-piece “Daimajin” trilogy (highly recommended 😉) as i figured Heisei Gamera was less likely to have gone under your radar, but here we are 😄 Definitely some of the best kaiju movies ever, even for those not usually into the genre. Glad you enjoyed them, and would love to see your thoughts on Nezura 1964, it’s an interesting take on the subject matter 🤔
Edit: By coincidence, “Gyaos” rhymes with “mouse”… not a rat but still 😄

    4. Great video!I remember being blown away by these when I saw them in the 90s,amazing stuff. The director eventually made a Godzilla movie that was definitely one of the better Millenium G films!

    5. Congratulations on Your induction to the world of Gamera!!! In Your earlier vid You mentioned a good kaiju trilogy that You came across, and I figured it Had to be the Heisei Gamera Trilogy!!! Daiei really Showed Toho how it should be done with That Series!!! At the time, Toho had finished their Heisei Gojira/Godzilla series with Godzilla vs. Desteroyah, and kaiju fans were kinda burned out on the current Goji Formula which spaned 7 movies! Heisei Gamera breathed New Life into the Kaiju Genre with the 1st installment of Gamera Guardian Of The Universe, and when I saw it, I was Chomping at the Bit for the Next Flick! As a Fan since childhood of the Showa Gamera Series, the Heisei Gamera Series was an Unexpected, Next Level, Emotional, Mindblast!!! I even Loved Gamera The Brave(2005), even though it brought back the Childlike Aspect of the Showa Gamera, it was done in a serious but fun, almost reverent, way that really tugged at my heart strings!!! Anyhoo, I could gush all day about Heisei Gamera, but I think You've pretty much hit the nail on the head with Your Review!!! Another Daiei series You might wanna check out would be the Dai Majin Trilogy from 1966!!! Samurai & Kaiju Creepyness!!! Keep Rockin', Terry!!! 😄😄😄

    6. The Showa Gamera movies steadily declined quite badly, but the Heisei era movies were brilliant. I saw them a while back on streaming. The 4th movie, Gamera the Brave, was a bit of a throwback to the kid-friendly era, but well done, fun, and the kids weren't irritating, a problem with the original Gamera movies.

    7. Hey, you should do a Steven Segal retrospetive.

Just kidding, can you imagine? His daughter, I assume is from the woman he was still married to when he bigamously married Kelly le Brock. He's such a foul person, i'm glag his daughter is doing well, she must have been raised without him in her life.

    8. The director of these three Gamera films would end up directing one of the best Godzilla Film, Godzilla GMK .
If you like the Gamera Movie , you need to watch it .

    9. I saw those years ago and really enjoyed them. It was in the early days of Netflix. The discs had some humorous commentaries, one was of the monsters themselves and one had a Texan or southern US accent. I definitely need to pick up a copy of those movies.

    10. Brillant set of films. I saw first film as part Japanese film festival in the 90's. Then it was shown on SBS on a Saturday night, when they show cult films. When Arrow announced box set if all Gamera, I brought , the whole just nice extras. I have been big fan of Gamera as much as Godzilla. In the set you got hardcopy of Dark Horse comic of the first film. I totally agree about all the film set. I have small vinyl figure of Gamera. During late 60's that had the Gamera theme song.

    11. Must add as a child in late 60's, I saw three different type Japanese films all dubbed of course, Godzilla, Gappa and Gamera. All but two of the Gamera films are less interesting. As Heather said I watched too much when I was young 🤣

    12. There's a recent anime Camera: Rebirth that reboots Gamera. I liked it, though not as well as the Heisei movies.
