The distinctive red color of Mars is due to the presence of iron oxide, also known as “rusty rock.” The planet’s surface contains a large amount of iron, and when the iron is exposed to oxygen and moisture, it oxidizes and turns orange-red. This, added to the dust and sand suspended in the atmosphere, contributes to the planet’s reddish hue. #insanecuriosity #mars #shorts
