THE ANIME SEQUEL WE DIDN’T NEED

So, after the success of my last video essay, or should I say kind of the first video essay that I did, which is the Cardi Vanguard Divines anime seasons 1 and two, it was a very good video on my channel. Now, after the success of that video, I think it’s time that I make a sequel, and that is why does this season or these arcs exist? Genuinely, why? What’s up, TFM Nation? say the tip moments are here again and so we are back with another video essay although this time I have no script I’m just going to yap and hopefully I don’t take long so after divine season 1 and two obviously spoiler alert in 3 2 1 Erica or we all know her as future hickory did survive after the events of season 2 and she has now lived in the present timeline or in the timeline that we know in the anime and so she has a new name and that is Erica. So, after the events of season 2 and season 1, the faded clash and the destined showdown, we have now entered a new tournament. This time, not a supernatural one, but a regular tournament, and that is the deluxe tournament. So, we’re diving right into season 3 and season 4, also known as we call them, the filler seasons. Oh my god, bro. That’s how bad or good they are. Deluxe Arc is a tournament, a regular tournament for Card Fight Vanguard. Yeah, I mean there’s nothing for me to say because the plot is just basically a tournament flash and uh yeah, there’s no there’s no stakes here. It’s just character writing and so we’re jumping right into the good and the bad ones. So I’m going to combine season 3 and four all at the same time. So we’re going into the good ones of season 3 and four. So what’s good about this seasons is that we now have a focus on Akina, his own goal, not just for others. This time Akina in season 3 is finally looking for his own goal because we are now introduced to a new character that is Yakamo Kagatu or Kagatu which is now Inab or now senpai’s mentor of cardfight vanguard. Kagatu asked Akina in which later on in the season 3 he finally found his answer and answered it appropriately against Kagitsu again. Yeah, it’s uh it’s only in this season. So if you ask me what happened in season 4, well we’re going to dive right into that later on. That’s what I love about this particular season. Akina in season 3 is finding a reason as to what is his reason for playing Vanguard. And I liked his answer. It wasn’t the best answer that can be provided to any of us or to every one of us. However, that is his answer. That’s for himself. Because it’s not for any one of us, but for himself. That’s what I like about Aina’s character in season 3 deluxe arc. I can’t say the same for the deluxe finals, though. Akena in season 3 continues to be the miracle boy and so on for the deluxe finals. But before that in season 4 deluxe finals and deluxe arc combined we have now seen the blackout origin and that is from overdress and blue characters the connection between the characters in the divines series. We now have the answer in this particular season in this particular filler seasons. I love the blackout origin. It’s very simple. It didn’t have to be grand. It doesn’t have to have a very high stakes and emotional origin story. We got introduced to the characters that we all know and love and the leader of the team, Ruka. Ruka and Kagatu have connection in this season, but it’s not deep enough to say for us audiences. For Kagatu, it’s deep enough because he has never experienced a card fight like that when he faced off against Ruka. But for Ruka, she is this very jolly girl and a very happy, outgoing girl. And that is the leader of team Blackout. In the end, it left Kagatu with a very traumatic experience because of a one night stand. Ah, and so Ruka and Kagatu are really, really good addition, but they’re not really the best addition for the series. Their character writing is still lacking because they are just an additional filler characters for the season for the plot to continue on and for the plot holes to be answered. Considering all that, what I also love about this particular seasons is that the redemption arc for Megumi. Megumi’s character writing for Overdress. It was bad, but then it turned out to be good in season two of Overdress. And then it turned bad and sour again in Wdress. In the overall Wildress season, it made her character so bad that she became a jobber, which meant a sore loser. She continued to lose in the end. But that’s not the case in Divine’s Deluxe Arc and Divines Deluxe Finals. She is there to redeem herself to show us that she is worthy of being the leader of team Blackout. Megumi’s character writing and development throughout this season has been really, really well done. It’s very astonishing to see Megumi shine even more than she ever did before. She proved us that she is not just a jobber, but is actually a great character. She embraced herself. She accepted herself for who she is. And that’s what I love about Megumi. And speaking of good character writing, we also have the forgotten characters to be remembered as well. They also had good character writing in the end because we have the forgotten characters like Kioma who is Tao’s best friend and Yuna, the number one fan of Mikoto, the idol. In season 2, we got introduced to these characters, but they are long forgotten because they are just jobbers for season 2. But in season 4 Deluxe Finals, they have redeemed themselves in one specific episode, and that alone made their characters so much better. We’ve already been established to their characters in season 2, but it was further enhanced and was further improved upon in season 4, Deluxe Finals. Yuna has set her goal for herself this time. Not just a fan of Mikoto, but for herself as well. Kioma still turned out to be the big brother of the group and is like the father figure of the entire group which also makes Kyoma like Tao in the faded ones casts. And another good character writing in this one is the character writing and character conclusion of Mikoto supposedly character conclusion of Mikoto in Deluxe Finals. She had so much character development in this particular season, in one particular episode, and her character writing in this arc is astonishing. She was already good in the character aspect in season 1 and two, she was further improved in season 4 Deluxe Finals. Even though she’s not a part of the tournament, in the end, Mikoto turned out to be one of the best characters in the cast. Her answer for playing Vanguard and for not making Vanguard as her job but continues to remain as her hobby is already an exceptional answer. And that right there is a very realistic approach of Mikoto’s character. Mikoto continues to shine beautifully as the idol and as herself. Putting on the persona mask of an idol and being as herself in front of her friends and in front of playing Vanguard. What I also love about this particular season or this arc is Erica’s character writing in Deluxe Finals. Erica has been the MVP in season one. In season two, she has been the secret main character throughout the season. She is the one driving the plot itself for Card Fight Vanguard Divines. And so seeing her character in season 4 deluxe finals in deluxe arc, it has driven her character so much better because her reasoning to live is so much better and is so much compelling. What I also love about Erica is the issue between her and Suo. It has been resolved in season 4 deluxe finals because it has been the biggest plot hole in season 1 and season 2 and then deluxe arc because Erica and Su have their unfading scar within them in this particular arc. In this particular season, we now have their resolution, their issue been resolved because unlike Suo, Erica lost her brother through supernatural elements and that is because of a certain someone and that is Suo. Sua on the other hand lost his parents in an accident. So Erica has someone to blame for, but Sua doesn’t have someone to blame for. Sua just turned lifeless after the accident, while Erica is strong enough to go back in time to reverse things and to not let those things happen with her brother. And unlike Suo, Erica has deep resentment against someone and that is Suo. Suo doesn’t have that because Suo is the cause of Akina’s death in her timeline. People tend to misunderstand that because we don’t know what they’re feeling. We don’t know what it’s like. But if we were Erica, we would have felt the same way. Of course, you understand that this Suo is different from the Suo in your timeline because everything has changed. But what if things didn’t change? It would have been still the same. I love the resolution between them. Erica still has deep resentment but not as bad as it was before because they finally talked with each other through card fight and the character writing their story with each other is the hard carry for the season. Then we also have returning characters for the deluxe arc and deluxe finals like Reika from the D series will dress, Mirray from Overdress in Wheeldress, Mituru from Real Dress, Ura from Wheeldress, and our main character Yuyu and among others like Toya and Danji. What I also love about these seasons is the fact that these returning characters didn’t just return for the sake of fan service. It is a part of fan service, but they’re also a part of the narrative. It’s a culmination. And I also love that Yuyu finally returned our original main character of the D series in Overdress and Willress. And we have witnessed Peak Cinema and that is Akina versus Yuyu. The fight between main characters. We have witnessed another II and Chrono moment. The fights are great in this particular seasons and that is in Deluxe Arc and Deluxe Finals. It’s very hype, but we’re going to go into the bad ones later. What I also love about this particular seasons are the opening theme and different ending themes for each episode in the deluxe finals because we have opening one mirror and then we have opening two of deluxe finals and that is feather dreams which is connected to its first ending theme brilliance of wings with the same artist band morphonica and then we also have the good additional OSD original soundtracks and those are Kagat’s theme Ruka’s theme a new AA theme and Susan’s theme. These two seasons weren’t all bad. It had good moments like its poetic ending, mirroring moments from season 1, especially the siblings fight, the sibling dynamic in season 1, which made the end for this season. The fight is poetic, the sibling banter is still there, and the heart of everything in that card fight is still there. I did do the parallel shots in season 1 and in this season 4 deluxe finals in my AMV. So if you haven’t checked it out, go check it out. So all in all, it was very good because of its poetic end. But not everything is good because we will now dive right into the bad ones. Oh First off is the additional character and that is Susan. Susan is just a jobber for Sua’s character development. What? Susune had some good establishment, but her character execution in this season was so bad. She is just another character to fulfill her job for Sua’s character development. But why? It would have been nice if we do have additional backstories of Susan’s family that is the ROI family. It was a very interesting establishment, but not enough which made these two filler seasons its own downfall. And then another thing is the returning character of Reika just another jobber. Oh brother, this guy stinks. Even though he was the previous champ of the deluxe tournament. But what I did like about Reika returning is the fact that he crushed another main character like Yuyu and that is Akina. And another thing is now had zero developments in this two seasons once again. now had a very interesting character writing in season 1 but has fallen off shortly after season 1. Then comes season 2 can then come season 3 deluxe arc and then finally the deluxe finals which made her turn into just another character for Aina’s sake for Aina’s character writing. Uh-oh. And that is her husband. I mean sorry. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. And another bad thing is Erica in season 3. We had a whole ending theme for season 3 deluxe arc entirely solely focused for Erica but did not get the focus she deserved in season 3. She turned out to be a jobber in deluxe arc with only having the sheer miracle of luck which made her the winner and advanced in the semi-finals. When it comes to deluxe finals, we have Ruka and Mitru. We have been established that these characters are professionals and very very good card fighters. But in the end, they both didn’t win because plot armor, which then turned fights became predictable. Some good executed fights and some bad executed fights. I love the hype surrounding season 3 Deluxe Arcs fights because we don’t know what’s about to happen except some of them. But in the deluxe finals, we all know who’s going to reach the finals, but it’s only a matter of who’s going to win between them, and that is the siblings, Akina and Erica. Because of the predictable fights, it made the season really bad. It’s really hard to pull off a very predictable plot and a still very very good executed anime or story in general because in this particular season AA’s character writing is wasted in season 4 Deluxe finals because of plot armor. We have been established that he is the miracle boy. He is the embodiment of miracle. That is why he is the plot armor himself. His deck is plot armor. He himself is plot armor. He is the miracle boy and so is his deck. But because of that, people are getting sick of him because of his pl armor, because of his miracles, and in terms of overall story. We are getting tired. Akina is a very compelling character in season 1 and two. It has fallen off in season 3, starting from season 3 when he finally found something that he’s doing for himself. And the fact that I say that Akuna’s character writing is wasted is because the ending feels rushed and it didn’t feel earned to us a lot of fans. We were disappointed, but I don’t feel like he didn’t earn it because I do feel Akina still earned that win, but it’s a matter of character writing the narrative. If Erica would have won that tournament, if Akina lost that fight, we can still have room for more character writing, character development for Akina’s character in the next season, season 5, Parallytic Clash, or the Mythish Ward as we so call it. And if Erica would have won that fight, if Erica would have won the tournament, it felt so much more earned because of her character writing being done. Her character is concluded. So does Mikoto. But the bad part is we’re getting Mikoto back in the next season. We already had good conclusions for these characters, but they are returning for the next season. And I feel like that’s just not good writing. Unlike my video essay for Card by Vanguard Divine season 1 and two, I was dick riding and glazing language. Sorry for the wording, I was glazing season 1 and two so much. But after season 3 and season 4 Deluxe Arc Deluxe finals, my opinion to the series turned sour. Damn. Dragging out Aina again in the next season as the main character in the Paralytic Clash doesn’t feel right. Because if we have more room for Aina’s character writing, I feel like he didn’t deserve that win. And it should have been Erica who deserved that win because her character writing is done. It’s concluded. But there is potential for the next season. Potential return of good writing in season 5, the paralytic clash. So all in all, this season has its good and has its bad. So all in all, it’s mid. Some fights are lackluster. Some fights are mid. Some fights are underwhelming. And some fights are really, really good. and some fights are really really peak cinema. It was absolute cinema, especially the fight finale for Deluxe Finals. It was very cinematic. However, I can say the same for the outcome results of the fight. The ending for Deluxe Finals seems abrupt for its filler season and it felt really really rushed. I refuse to believe that these two seasons aren’t filler because I believe that these two seasons of Card Fight Vanguard Divines Deluxe Arc and Deluxe Finals are filler seasons for what’s about to come and that is they are cooking for the next season. Hopefully cooking something good, cooking something great, cooking something that is a masterpiece that we can call it again as Peak Cinema and that is the season 5 Paralytic Clash. Because the parallelic clash all the informations that we have gathered so far seems very interesting. The concepts are really really interesting. We have characters from another universe or a parallel universe. They are similar but different. They are the same characters but different at the same time. Interesting. And so I hope you all enjoyed this video. I did not glaze this anime as much as I did in the first video essay and I yapped too much. I did not have a script. I do not have a script throughout this recording. I only did a script outline for what I’m about to say, the topics that I needed to say, although I may have missed some things here and there, but all in all, I think it was worth it to say all of these things, and I hope I don’t get cooked in my editing self. So, yeah. Anyway, editing future me, I hope you don’t get cooked because I am tired already. Thank you guys so much for watching. Hope you all enjoyed and I’ll see you guys on the Paralleic Clash. And I hope they are cooking. Bushy Road, I hope Card Fight Vanguard does have good products in the near future because so far you are just milking us Card Fighters cuz I I don’t want to support Bush Road as of lately because your rival Yu-Gi-Oh is having a good product and that is $32 for three decks. Yeah. And that is my childhood decks as well. Childhood anime. If Bush Road One the worldwide fans know that Card Fight Vanguard exists and is a good anime series card game, then I hope you do produce good products because so far you’re not doing it. I hope you get the message and I hope you are watching Bush Road. So yeah, anyway, hope you all enjoy it and I hope they are indeed cooking for the next season because so far I’m still loving the season. I’m still loving the series, but it’s just very unfortunate that this particular seasons have been extremely cooked badly. They are extremely mid and very lackluster, very filler, and wasn’t really necessary. So, yeah. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed. I’ll see you guys on the next one. Thank you guys so much for watching and stay tuned for my next video essay. And I feel like it’s going to be the Eminence and Shadow or the Dazinon Gridman series. Well, depending on you guys, whichever one you want first. Yeah. Anyway, I’ll see you guys on the next one. Peace out.
