I really like the DC animated movies and I agree they are much better than the live action universe.
Before this movie each movie was standalone and most of them adapted a specific comic storyline, after this one they started adapting the new 52 in a continuous storyline.
Personally I think the more standalone movies are generally better than the new 52 ones(which is probably the list you have considering it starts with this and then JLwar).
My main recommendations would be: – Batman mask of the phantasm – All star superman – superman vs the elite – justice league the new frontier – justice league doom – superman Doomsday – Batman Under the red hood – Justice league crisis on two earths
They can be watched in any order as they aren't connected.(There are many others but the list was getting too long😂).
As far as Death of Superman there have been 2 animated versions, Superman Doomsday and Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen(which is a 2 parter), I like them both but if you are watching the new 52 movies(justice league war -> son of batman -> throne of atlantis etc you'll probably get to the 2 parter eventually.
Anyway I hope you have fun with whichever ones you end up watching and sorry for the essay
