  1. Woot! Just saw this, I'll watch it at lunch. Even if you hate Rudy, Nozz, keep with it, this show is absolutely fantastic.

  2. That is the granddaddy of the modern isekai. Truck-chan got his beginning in here. you will see a lot of tropes here. this is not because the creator is unoriginal it is quite the opposite. you can blame this isekai for those tropes.
tangent: I thought Healing magic is Restoration. Maybe I'm thinking I'm thinking of The Elder Scrolls

  3. I don't know if the anime is as bad as the light novel but be warned when he is first reborn Rudy is a trash human. That's actually part of the plot Rudy growing as a human being and actually becoming a hero. So yeah you aren't gonna like him at first, largely because you aren't supposed to like him at first. This is the story of a trash human redeeming himself on his 2nd life.

  4. ok about that Magic system.

normally you have the 3 main types, elemental Magic that is basically evocation, you ave healing magic and you have Summoning Magic these are the 3 common types of magic, but there are other types of magic, but they are more advanced stuff, but you will learn that slowly during the story, the show don't just throw up exposition over the views, you learn about the world by the MC eyes

  5. Rudy's overall protagonist powers actually make sense in-universe, but saying more would be spoilers. He does get better in time, though, one can only be a neckbeard once.
Hating Rudy but holding on to the hope he gets better is kinda the way to really enjoy this. You want an OP but flawed protagonist? Here you go. Plus, the source material is one of the uncommon light novels that actually ended once it told the story it wanted to.

  6. Rudy is honestly not as bad at the start as everyone here is making it out. Especially considering the world he's in now. If judged by this worlds standards he's pretty decent at the start. Yeah he's a pervert and yes he's a lolicon but what do expect from him? He's a child now, do you want him to only be with women 40 years older than him?

  7. Just expect a bit of shitty pervert side and a ton of troupes.
Since this is the grandaddy isekai.

And btw, theyre planning to animate EVERYTHING from volume 1 upto the final volume.

  8. 32:00 just tid bit of trivia.
Its not really much of a OP boost for the MC but due to the fact that non-aristocrat families doesnt really teach their child how to read and write at the early age of 5. Most of them learns it at school around age 10+. And to study means you got money to spend.

So in defense for the protag, hes OP interms of he got to study early because his parents got some background around reading and writing( duh, both are adventurers, its dumb if they dont know how to read). Usually at the age of 5-10 they just run around or simply be kids.

  9. So the main character, is like you said a sack of garbage. But the show is about him trying to redeem himself and actually start trying to live. This side of him is gonna be a thing that continues so yeah. Other than those stuff the show is actually good. Looking forward to more!

  10. Like many have already mentioned, the MC is supposed to be an utter piece of trash in our eyes. The author does almost everything and goes out of his way to stress that in the WN. While I very much understand why you’d also want him to sort of redeem himself quickly, it has to be said that is quite unreasonable to expect. You can’t undo over 2 decades of your life of being a complete failure so to speak in a few years (you potentially can, but it is quite difficult; not to mention rare), especially when you’ve already matured. Such a swift change would actually be very unrealistic.

And that is the whole point of his character I believe. He does put in the effort to change for the better. He actually grows to really care for those around him which is a huge improvement from jacking off in his room during his parent’s funeral in his previous life. But still it is very gradual as it realistically should be. That’s what will make or break this story for you depending on how patient you are and are willing to be for the MC’s sake. Personally having read quite a bit ahead in the WN, although it has taken quite sometime and he still retains some of that cringe, I am glad to see him go through all sorts of experiences that change him for the better bit by bit. It makes me feel like rooting for an underdog character wise and watching him slowly but surely create a better version and person of himself. It is satisfying to me because he actually makes good on his promise to not waste this opportunity of a second life when I am confident many others would probably fall back to their old ways.

  11. The OG isekai, One where truck-kun had to pull out all 18 wheels!
Rudy living his best music video life….
Paul x Zenith = " You shook me all night long" (AC/DC)
Rudy x Roxy = " Hot for teacher" (Van Halen)

Although he does not start off Tanya-strong he does get Being X after customer service complaints forced Customer service re education.

  12. Technically for wizards healing magic is a variation of necromancy although putting it under evocation is a broad brush it's a healing is healing Sphere for clerics.

  13. I read the light novel for this and honestly Rudy's character progression is so amazing throughout the series, he starts as the worst of all garbage and ends up being a great character.

  14. Yeah, nah. It's about telling a story, not about inserting yourself in some blank generic "character". Power fantasy sht.

Lmao to be fair, certainly some parts you shall find uncomfortable/hard to watch.

    Rudy great overall though.

There are a lot of context clues and hints that can help in understanding characters and situations more deeply. (they doing their best but naturally not comparable to the novel and things can get lost) Like small animations and such.

It is a bit slice of life-y btw.

  15. Mushoku Tensei is basically the OG medieval high fantasy Isekai, and it inspired a lot of what we see today. The difference is, whereas a lot of Isekai borrowed elements from Mushoku Tensei without really giving thought to how and why they worked, the original novel is basically an epic RPG slice of life that somebody poured their heart and soul into and actually bothered to construct something meaningful, well thought out, and fulfilling. Hence why an entire studio was created JUST to work on this anime; the series had such a strong following that it was afforded that kind of respect.

As for Rudy's character? Yes, he is a piece of shit. But is he irredeemable? That remains to be seen. But think about his position; he's a child, and he has the opportunity to be a huge pervert and not get called out on it due to his youth. A lot of people would abuse that situation, and while it's creepy for Rudy to perv on little girls, he is still a child with the libido of a neckbeard, so he either has to stick close to his age range or try and go after women 10x older than he is, and I don't think that kind of consensual cradle-robbing is big in medieval fantasy societies…

As for Rudy's magical abilities, one must consider the science of magic and VSM components are even a thing in spellcasting. And I would liken it to the prayer rituals of the Mechanicus in 40k; the Hymn of Ignition may have some tangible effect, but any schmuck from our world would just put the key in and crank the fucking car up. Is the Hymn useless? No, because it's probably a mnemonic element to the rituals of servicing the machine, but to any sane person it might as well be the Hymn of 2+2; something you'd teach to a fucking infant.
So the question becomes, is Rudy an exception to the rule, or are the rules more like guidelines than indisputable laws of reality? Time will tell obviously, but best to get the noggin jogging early.

  16. Then I guess you're gonna hate Rudy… but please remember the anime cut many scenes that Rudy be serious and works hard, added many fan service scenes that does not exist in the origin light novel.

  17. The anime doesn't explain it, but Rudy can cast without incantations based on how well he knows the elements and what they do from his science classes in our world (ie: water is a molecule made of one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, ice and steam are what it turns into based on how active the molecular movement is, etc). He doesn't know a lot about medicine, so he can't do healing without an incantation, he doesn't know everything about water so higher level spells still need incantations, and so on. Finally, it was kind of shown, but not explained (with him passing out after the second water ball) that casting without an incantation uses more mana.
