This episode hit really hard in a lot of ways, and has been one heck of a journey. Highly excited for season 2 after this!
It seems like Ghislaine made those lists of dead/found people and she couldn't have done that if she didn't study under Rudeus.
Eris' words themselves were not arousing, but incredibly embarrassing. Yet saying embarrassing things in a sexual context is what makes them incredibly kinky. So while my immediate reaction was to chuckle, I kinda get why it convinced our boy to do it.
On my first watch though, I sort of didn't quite understand Rudeus' reaction, but yeah, you definitely put the finger on it. The only time he's been alone in his new life was when he was sent away or held against his will, and even then he still had a home. But now? Home was wherever his friends were, but with them gone and the only places he lived for years reduced to ruins, that can't be easy to process.
If you realize that this is first time Rudeus ever cry…. he didn't cry when he was baby, not when he had a fight with his father and not also when Ruijed left.
This is the first time he cry with his heart out….
