they see selected memories that made the most impact on the persons legend or life. but depending on the bond of the servant and master you can see more or less. In the Saber route in the fate stay night visual novel, shirou and saber seeing each others past histories was a huge part of the plot and moving it forward
basically, ishtar got rejected by gil and crashed out so hard so promised if gil and enkidu ever came back she would also come back to ruin their day. that is how her soul is able to inhabit a vessel like this. its more like her rage was so much that it became a curse that stays active no matter the time period as long as enkidu and gil are on earth on the same time
Ishtar SAYS she did it to protect humanity, and really she might mean it too, but don't forget that she's working off of a god's weird-ass mentality and morals. She just has a grudge against Gil for not just rejecting her but also humiliating her and then also basically ending the Age of Gods. To her, punishing Gil and Enkidu is the same as protecting humanity, because as far as she's concerned, she knows what's best for humanity all the time.
Edit: to clear things up a bit more, the "blessing" (really a curse) that Ishtar put on the world basically is like a computer code. When Gil and Enkidu show up together, her code will trigger and spit out a weaker "copy" of Ishtar so she can fuck their shit up.

that flashback of the picture from richards perspective was…apart of his real legend. he was apart of the crusades….and if you were apart of the crusades, you were likely not comng out a good person. in that picture specifically richard was deleting a whole bunch of innocent Muslim civilians for being heathens to Christianity and trying to "clean up" jerusalem for the second coming of christ. If you ever played the video game dantes inferno…yeah..
Oh, and for Hansa's ladies, iirc Strange Fake came out slightly before Nier, but the manga, where their designs were revealed, definitely came out after. So they probably are based or at the very least very inspired by Nier.

Edit : Of Course this servant can be defeated by Ea but its never can be Killed, his existence its same as Tiamat, if Tiamat its Mother of Life then he is Dead its self, as One of Four Horsemen, as long humanity believe on his legends in Bible, he always being existed.
20:34 Ishtar blessed(cursed) the planet. So if Enkidu and Gilgamesh ever reunite, even if just as servants she will appear. It’s not the real Ishtar though. The real Ishtar is in a higher dimension with the rest of the gods.
The thing currently possessing the homunculus is just a curse acting as her. It has the memories, personality and some of the divinity and authority of Ishtar but it’s not the actual goddess. However it is acting as her so it doesn’t really matter so it’s easiest and best to just think of her as Ishtar.
It’s been shown throughout other Fate works that what a god believes to be good for humanity and what is actually good for humanity are often very different and can sometimes result in the planet being in danger.

To reveal what the blond Ayaka is would be major spoilers. That said I’m also not sure the anime will get to that point.
John is under the effect of one of Dumas’s noble phantasms. It temporarily brings the target to the level of a servant. It enhanced Johns body and allowed for him to survive having his neck get snapped.
As for John, I'm not really sure if the anime intends to go over it within the next two episodes, but yeah basically he DID die for a bit. But Dumas's NP, Musketeers' Masquerade, allows him to rewrite someone's life based on either his own life or one of his books. Dumas used his NP on John and rewrote events based on The Count of Monte Cristo, which allowed him to basically undo John's death and give him a buff so he could attack Alcides properly.
Basically, it's a plot armor NP. Dumas can't use it often and it will only work once on a target though.
