A MUSICAL FINALE! – CITY: The Animation (Dub) | Episode 13 Reaction

Hello everyone and welcome back to City the Animation. This is the final episode of the season. I’m so excited to get into this to see I mean of the series even I think right like this is going to be the end of the show. I just dropped my notebook on the on the ground. It’s all good. We’re all fine. Um this is the final episode. So let’s see how they wrap all this up. I can’t wait. I don’t know if they’re going to go for just like pure silliness. I don’t know if they’re going to do another episode that’s like a bunch of crazy story lines intertwining. I don’t know if they’re just going to calmly wrap up some story lines. I don’t know if they’re going to go full emotional like they could do any of the above and it would feel on brand for this show. So, let’s see how they wrap it up. You know, it’s a finale when they’re just calmly sitting on a hill in a show like this. So, have you found anything fun to do yet? Ah, some beautiful shots. I I just love the animation. When you look back on it, every day has been pretty fun. Oh, man. That’s beautiful scenery. We get one more OP. Hello, dear friend. [Music] She’s not here. Matsuri checking for a way. Is that one of the horses from the horse racing thing last episode? All right, Riota. Oh, I’ve been watching all of sometimes behind a pillar. Try and picture me as the wind when it blows. I can hear it dancing on the breeze now. Running on the road. You’ll get hit by a car. City airport. I like that it’s just called city. Seized by a fit of uncontrollable sneezing. We thank you for your patience. Man, she really left without a proper goodbye. Don’t for pissed at her for just leaving. Like there was a thing last episode, but just pretending not to see her. Okay. Yeah. M’s pierced. I know what you’re trying to This must be part of my training so I can live on my own. Oh. Oh my god. H. Well, am I right or am I right? Oh my god. Ow. Nice. Oh, that’s way too sad. A of course it is. It’s sad whether or not we see each other. Yeah. So, wouldn’t it be better for us to be sad together? Sorry. Yeah, she’s right. Get on a butt when I go to school. You won’t be there anymore. Oh, and then I could afford to go to England as much as I want. That makes sense. This is bad. We need to buy some more time. What are you two here? Doing it again. Oh my god. like in the middle of the Oh my god. An explosion in an airport. That’s not good. Things won’t change too much. We still have to keep peace in our well. Mhm. And I’m sure you’re going to be fine without me. When you came to talk to me, wait, I didn’t mean um I don’t I’m not thinking straight. See youauri. [Music] Not the time to talk about it, but this instrument or the song in the background sounds like coincidence by Sabrina Carpenter. [Music] Oh my god, everyone has a sneezing fit now. [Laughter] What? You menace. Once again, there is a trespasser that is currently blocking the airplane stopper. Well, you I thought you were a creepy stalker. Well, thank you for all your Oh, there they go. They’re not here. I don’t know. That makes sense. Giving the thumbs up is funny. Noble Matzer prize. Oh [Music] man. Man, is that the end of Etchan Matsuri? Never seeing them again. What the [ __ ] What is this montage? [Music] Gold star really wizard with one star restaurant. Onearie it’s a one-star restaurant. We could go find out. That’s crazy. It’s true. Wow, that’s wild. Prepare a bottle of your finest sake with pleasure. I didn’t realize they were that good. Matsuri, I’ll pay for your plane tickets anytime. Oh, editor and chief story is right here. I like how they know Mi just wants to go visit him. Awesome. Nice. But surely that none of that’s going to happen because the [Applause] Wait, what about me? I’ll think of something. I’ll think of something. Wait. Sounds like it’s time to get ready for a face. Shouldn’t you wait till you start making more money from the one star before you spend all this money? He got one star. He got one star. I’m waiting for them to undercut all this cuz it’s too happy. Oh my god. There’s a [ __ ] song. [Music] Insane. Why is it suddenly in Japanese? All Why is it all in Japanese? Oh, cuz it’s a Cuz it’s still part of the song. [Music] Translate the episode for me. Okay, I put extra subtitles on now. [Music] Okay, we’re getting a lot of the characters popping up in this. This is their way of bringing a lot of them in. Oh yeah, the the model girl, the famous girl. Oh my gosh, I love this art style. [Music] [Laughter] one star. I got it. True. They’re doing like a full musical. It’s insane. [Music] This is so good. No. No. That’s key. Oh my god, this is awesome. [Music] [Laughter] [Music] Sci-fi vibe. Yeah, this is about what I’d expect from the last episode of City. Oh my god. Just so creative having the neon light silhouette. I love how well matched those two are. Nagamo and the and the chef. Yep. Hopefully it’s a Michelin star. But Honda [Music] is great choreography. [Music] A Oh my god. That’s so great. [Laughter] I thought this might be where it’s going. [Laughter] You just send them a gold star. Oh my god. Yeah, you made too many promises. [Music] He just told you it’s not real. I love the dancing. They’re animating it so well. [Music] Oh my god, I can’t wait to rewatch this episode. I think I’m going to get addicted to it. Oh my gosh, it’s getting around. 60 people. A how far do you deliver? Can they deliver to England? Yes. Send m there. [Music] This is very wholesome. They had to make a fire manually. This is good. It’s getting around. Why? Oh, I mean, I guess so. A time machine. Oh my god. [Music] This is so stupid. I love it. [Music] [Music] A a [Music] I’m just I’m just blown away by this. This is crazy. They’re all getting on the time machine. Oh my god. Did they just break it by spilling on it? This is [ __ ] crazy. Oh my god. Jesus Christ. The one cup that exploded. Oh my god. Is that how the show ends? See you in the summer somewhere. Holy [ __ ] A, that was absolutely insane. What a crazy ending to the show. Also, very funny that the dub only had to do half the episode, even less than. Like, I feel like the dub did like 10 minutes of the episode and then the rest of the episode, since it was a musical, they didn’t dub any of it. which if I I think it I I think it’s tough with stuff like that. Like obviously I I don’t this dub already went above and beyond for so much stuff. It would have been like not impossible to do the whole song. So like I get not doing the song. Um there were a lot of speaking bits in there and I feel like maybe they should have been dubbing the speaking bits. um the speak because I I understand that like it since it’s jumping back and forth between singing and and and talk singing and talking um it does make it difficult because then you’d constantly be jumping forward back and forth between Japanese and English voices. Um so I mean maybe they just decided to do this just for consistency sake so that it’s not too confusing. Um, but like at the same time it does feel like something’s gone wrong when the characters are even talking. Like then when there’s long sequences where there’s not even any background music, but they’re still talking in Japanese because they’re about to go back into singing. Um, so it’s uh that that’s the like only kind of sad thing is like I think I I think they should have dubbed the talking bits of that song even if they didn’t dub the song bits. Um, but man was that [ __ ] good. That was that was so so good. I think the funny the best bit I mean look. Yeah. The funniest bit of the episode and one of my funniest jokes, one of the funniest jokes in the in the show to me is the completely unearned confidence of the chef and Nagamo both um being so convinced that it’s a star and being so positive about it that they keep going into their little upbeat dance where they’re like where like every time someone tries to get them down with logic, they just do a little a little dance and make up some excuse. I I loved that. And the bit where they’re just like like let’s call them and then they do the beep boop boop boop but to the timing of the music is so funny to me. That’s like one of my favorite jokes that the show’s done in the entire show. That was so good. Um we did get a a nice little wrap-up to the Matsur and Etchan story line and I’m I’m really glad with how they did it. I mean it was it was nice in that they still you know put some stupid jokes in there. Um, but at the same time they were just being very they were also playing it very straight and um and I I think it was it was very adorable like those two and I loved um I love how much you know they want to see each other and like it it’s really sad that they’re not going to be together anymore but also the show didn’t like take it back. The show didn’t go like, “Oh, actually like Matsuri is moving too, so they’ll be together forever.” Or, “Et’s actually not moving now because of this reason or another.” Instead, it was like, “No, she is still moving. These things happen sometimes, but you know, they still they still love each other. They’re still going to um be seeing each other as much as they can. And like it’s it’s still going to be fine. It’s just a sad moment.” But I did I also like Etchan being like it’s a it’s really sad to say goodbye and Matsuri saying to her like yeah it’s sad whether we say goodbye to each other or not. So isn’t it better to be sad together like that. And that’s so that’s so true and that’s so I’m glad she she said that. I’m actually surprised by how well Matsuri took it. like she she’s I think it I guess I underestimated how much she sort of like goes along with Etchan’s logic because like she really did throughout this episode like give her the benefit of the doubt so much and never seemed to get mad at her for any of this. I mean even when Etchan was attacking her and like throwing her at walls and stuff um Matsuri never got impatient with her and I think that’s why their friendship works well because you know sometimes Etchan will be like that. she will be too silly. She’ll go too far with her bits or whatever, but Matsuri is so patient with her. Um, and so yeah, in a in a situation like this where Matsuri is like, “We have to say goodbye to each other,” Matsur is being very patient. I loved the little like when Matsuri was saying goodbye. I don’t know why, but the the choice to go with bye-bye, bye-bye, like as the as the goodbye um to me is so cute. like just bye-bye when when you’re trying to say like a a heartfelt goodbye to someone. I feel like I don’t often hear people use bye-bye. Um because like that’s such a casual one, but I but I love it, you know? Like I feel like if if you’re going for like a casual but still emotional goodbye generally, especially anime tends to lean towards see you, which this is such a small little translation thing, but I but I really like the choice of bye-bye. Um cuz they use see you later. Like I think Etchan said see you to her. Um but I just like I feel like bye-bye is like such a like such an adorable um such an adorable goodbye to use, you know? Um so yeah, I I I really I really liked seeing that. But the song I mean I I guess when I said like how is City going to wrap it up? Are they going to do this crazy story lines it converging on each other or whatever? Um, this was a this was one hell of a way to to wrap it all up is like do a just a huge musical number. And I mean, it was it was great. There are several sequences in the musical number that I think I’m going to have to rewatch over and over again. Um, because they were they were so catchy. Like the play earlier in the season, the plays that that they did were were quite catchy. This took it to a new level to me. Um, I’m trying to find I mean, yeah, like obviously, as I said, the uh them dancing around the these two like constantly dancing around and stuff is is one bit, but there was another bit um that was like uh where was it? There is so many. There was this was so long. There was so many. There was one where they were um where like all of them were getting sort of in a line and saying things one after another that I thought was really catchy and cute as well. But um but I don’t remember like at what point during the song that was. Um but regardless, it was just like so well done and so consistently funny. Like they just they crammed so many jokes into it. I loved it. Um, there were some things that didn’t necessarily get wrapped up, but I don’t think they needed to necessarily. I mean, that’s the thing. This show kind of like it didn’t have many long-term story lines that were like really really important. Um, so like a lot of things kind of were able to just be like, oh, and they’re part of the big group, you know? Um, but yeah, like showing the they all wanted to get into a time machine and showing like what um what they all would have done in the time machine was uh was great. I think it was this bit that I was talking about that’s very catchy. I just saw this screenshot. I think it was this bit um around here that was very catchy. So yeah, I mean I already can’t wait to just rewatch this entire sequence and eventually be singing along to it cuz it’s one of those things that I feel like like I already have it kind of in my head. So I’m going to be like if someone uploads it on YouTube or whatever, I’m going to be going back to that YouTube video like once a month for the rest of my life. Like it’s going to be stuck in there. Um but yeah, anyway, that was that was a great final episode. That was great. They nailed the ending. Um, there had so much love in it. I can’t believe there’s going to be no more City the animation. It was so so special. Unless Kioani decides like, “Hey, you know what? Let’s do more.” Like, that would be awesome. I doubt I doubt they would. Who the the person who writes City Animation, the the manga or the sorry, City, the manga? Um, it’s uh ki kichi arawi arowi arawi. Um, I just wanted to first make sure that he was still alive, which thank goodness he is. He’s only 47 actually. Um, and secondly, what’s he doing? He is doing a another series right now. Aia son. A Meia son. Okay. Yeah. I mean looking at a Meia son, it’s um the the character looks like Edan. So um so yeah, I feel like it might be a kind of similar um a similar type of story. But um it would just be really cool if What? Why does it say city? It says 2016 into present on the city. Um, on the city manga, is city not over? I I don’t know. Is is is there supposed to be more city? Um, I mean, the latest volume came out in July 23rd, but not in English yet. It’s not out in English. Um, so is there going to be possibly more of this series in in the in the future? The series returned in morning on December 12, 2024, 3 years after its conclusion. So, it did finish and then it came back. Okay. I mean, I’d love more. If they decided to do more, I would not. So, maybe, you know, maybe in a few years time there’d be enough for another season and and we could we could do more city. But for now, this was incredible. Um, I can’t wait for my manga uh volume one of City to arrive at my doorstep because I’ve already bought it. It’s coming. Uh, and then I’m going to take in the series in in manga form and it’s going to be great. But um, that was amazing. So, thank you for watching my City the Animation reactions.
