This came as a joke to the entire fandom and Loid Forger himself, People also humorously suspect that the series is going towards the Dandadan route. But then “everything changed” as she mentioned that somehow it is just like Donovan may have the ability to “read other people’s minds”. This just blows our minds because not only did it actually “make so much sense” if we take a look back at their very first interaction, thus explaining why Donovan has scars around his head and all. Everything around in the spy family verse as to why they conducted experiments to create esper like anya and bond. For now. We can now suspect that all those experiments are to further strengthen the leader’s mind and work towards the end to counter the intelligence. But the major problem is that Loid didn’t even realize “how cooked” his situation really is, as their very first interaction revealed everything from his true identity and all his intentions. It is crazy how a family friendly series can come up with such a superb and crazy twist but logical at the same time, it even was foreshadowed from the very beginning. ok so if this is true, heres something i would totally want to happen:
so when they're all like older, Anya realized Damian likes her, so she dates Damian, only for the sake of the mission. Damian then brings Anya to his house and she meets his family blah blah. but then after she leaves, Donovan tells Damian he doesnt approve of Anya. so now Damian is angry with Donovan and thinks he doesnt want him to be happy…..but in reality, Donovan read anyas mind and knows that she's just using Damian and doesn't love him, so in the end hes just tryna protect Damian. not that plot useful but would definetly make an interesting Desmond family dynamic.

when i first watched i thought something was suspicious of donavin desmond and then he said something loid didn’t even mention, but what loid didn’t mention was in is brain so how could he know? this was my first impression of him cause that is actually what i thought exactly like him but no alien
Well I thought that this think about Donovan Desmond being able to read minds was just him being able to know what other person could be thinking possibly or understanding them through their interests and more.. because in the other chapter when yor asked anya that what does she wanted for dinner , anya couldn't remember and was trying to remember the name of the dish and then yor came up with name of the dish and anya said that was exactly what she wanted and asked yor , "Mama! Can you read my mind?" (Not in a serious way) and then yor said "Yes! I can read every aspect of yours!" Later she told loid that before sleeping anya was watching a show in the TV in which they were showing a delicious dish and then anya said I want to eat that too. So that's how yor was able to understand what anya wanted. Loid smiled and then goes out for work . They didnt show much as it was just a small chapter but I definitely think he might have connected that scene to donovan reading minds.

Wait scars dude you just pointed out something I missed. Now I get chills I really remember how mom personality changes, like he an alien, scars around his head. He seems like he reading there mind. But can’t be sure until Anya meets him but. In truth I don’t know about the idea he can read minds but I know a signs of paranormal area, first Anya powers, the dog to see the future. Then see him now and clear scars arround his head. Dude I watched too many dark shit for to know signs that this man had his brain swap. In experiments swap brain but i didn’t notice since scars are at both sides, but I have strong feelings after reading manga and his wife feels like he abnormal not himself. I believe some spark that but listening this and know wife who reads cards. Maybe she can sense his aura of husband isn’t there but some stranger in his body. This serious mess up sounding theory but think about the situation, the war, Anya and Bond past history experiment. The story and how the boy child of our target acts and focus on the wife speak about her husband. She might right so wrong with her husband but ain’t alien. It might mess up situation that be hard on family if this theory is true.

I truly believe that they first tried and tested these powers on animals (like Bond)and then, when they were successful, tried on people(like Anya) to make sure everything went well with humans too. I think Desmond supported the lab in which ANIA was made and she is his test subject 007.the symbol of the desmond group, the griffin with a key could be interpreted as an emblem of powerful protection over access to valuable knowledge or opportunities.

Desmond can read minds, maybe even read the future, it makes it so that the whole story is seen from a very fatalistic pov from him.
Plus it means that Anya's fear that she may be abandoned if her power was revealed was very counterintuitive, since if Anya would've told Loid about the power he'd be much more equipped to handle Donovan by now.

A lot of people don't remember that the experiments weren't to create mind readers or clairvoyant, but to increase intelligence. Anya's mother tells her not to tell anyone that she (Anya) can read minds, so to the researchers Anya is just a very intelligent child, when she's actually just answering questions and problems via mind reading. So these powers are actually unknown byproducts and so it's not likely Donovan received them but received the treatment that caused them, so he may have a different power or just higher intelligence that Melinda mistakes for mind reading.
