One of my greatest fears has started showing up. I’m starting to lose interest in anime. I hate this.

I feel that. For some reason I can’t bring myself to watch anything even though there’s stuff coming out I want to watch.

  2. I had that for the last couple seasons. Ended up binge watching losing heroines which was enjoyable enough.

What’s important to know is anime is just another piece of media. Enjoy what you want to enjoy, because you want to, not because you have too

Adulthood and no good animes to watch. Also, it doesn’t help that this new gen anime peaked because people were stuck in their homes thanks to COVID-19 and now everything is back to normal, so less buzz and content than before.

  4. Me too, nearly I see nowdays it’s just plain boring especially romcom which I liked watching. I really really want to just start watching Zeta Gundam again for the 3rd time but idk

maybe you watched too much highly rated shows and now you’re in a burnout and can’t watch stuff

  6. I haven’t lost interest I just have less time to watch now and watch less overall. I’ve gone from watching most stuff in a season to now just watching the top 2-3 shows I’m most interested in.

  7. You’re not losing interest in anime. Anime is just a medium to tell stories. What you’re losing is interest in the stories that get told, due to your priorities shifting. Tbh, most stories that get told through anime aren’t that high standard. Which is kinda the reason why they can drop so many throughout the year. A lot of the stories aren’t worth my time anymore. Is it really necessary to watch the 7th isekai this year? For me, the answer has become no.

  8. Do what you like because you like it, not because you’re forced to. Anime is great, but you’re not forced to watch them. Whenever you feel to watch one you’re interested to, do it! You’re fine, champ!

  9. Thought so was the only one. It’s so hard for me to find something I enjoy. With work and everything else I just feel too exhausted to do anything.

  10. It comes and goes for me. It happens after watching too much anime. Switch up a little and just put anything interesting on your watchlist for later.

  11. I thought that for a while. Turned out I just needed a break. I watch a few shows right now and I’m a lot more selective with what I watch but I still watch anime.

Me with my 200 anime watch list adding 2 more anime knowing i definitely wont watch anything

  13. Take a break. Ive been watching anime for 12 years. I stopped in 2019 because of that same feeling you describe, and got back into it in 2022 and Ive been watching a lot since.

Last couple seasons I’ve had a really tough time getting into any shows. The older I get the less I care about high school stories/characters. In general, I’ve been finding myself just enjoying other activities more.

  15. I haven’t watched any in a while because I almost exclusively watch subs which means needing to actually be watching the screen and I’d much rather just listen to a vtuber play some nerdy game while I also play a nerdy game if not the same game.. sometimes even the same map seed.. sometimes at the same time

but, if you’re into degenerate harem comedies that are not as in-your-face about the fanservice like To Love Ru or Highschool DxD, then I recommend shows like Haganai or Omamori Himari

  16. i don’t think its a fear more of a worry alot of anime are sticking to isekai this isekai that theres no more original ideas which is why gems like windbreaker and kaiju no 8 are highly praised (dont misunderstand i love both of those animes and kaijus intro slaps) but people arent voicing for different genres OR as ive seen everything shown on YouTube is the same shlock AI narrator “we think youll like this” ass anime if everyone is watching and promoting the same anime the gems get crowded and hidden

  17. I didn’t watch anime for an year. Came back this year and am watching the seasonal anime

Take a break. You’ll either come back with renewed interest, find other interests, or both.

I watch anime on and off, binging multiple shows all at once every few seasons. And inbetween I always discover fun new hobbies. My current obsession is litrpgs, stemming from my addiction to isekai trash.

  19. maybe burnout or losing free time

i dont watch anime much anymore because i am slowly running out of free time. i usually just read manhwa or draw

if i ever have an abundant of free time, id return to watching anime

  20. Same here but I will argue that is two things:

One: just the massive amount of anime there is today
Two: even with so much anime produced, most is the same

So you end with a never ending list of anime that are all the same, it becomes boring and at least for me, predictable. Every slice of life the same tropes, the same jokes. Every isekai the same, over and over. Every shonen the same as always. Predictable, boring. Anime that are engaging and interesting are so few now days and they are lost in the vast ocean of series that came out every season that you just give up and therefore causing this disinterest bit by bit.

Go to manga, after 2-3 series that has 100+ ch. either you go back to anime or get into manga for a few weeks or months

  22. I’m losing interest in mid anime. Good ones are still ready binge. Just some (most) anime tropes are so overused (and not nicely done at all) that is borderline hard to brace through them. Similar stuff is happening in new movies tbh.

If Japanese were more selective (afaik Western reception matters very little due to blue rays and other merch sales) then maybe we wouldn’t have several anime every season that you basically can’t tell apart (and I mean all genres, not only isekai)

  23. If this happens, watch some movies or series and then when something interesting shows up come back I do this while waiting some of the interesting animes to finish airing.
