Depends, if they release too many fillers, I may skip them as well. But usually I do enjoy watching them, if I don’t, I won’t say I’ve watched the whole show.

Nah fam, L take. Filler serves no purpose.

Most filler is trash that doesn’t advance the story or the characters. At worst, it can even conflict with canon and creat story discrepancies later on.

Agree. Because I’m enjoying like 500+ episodes of Detective Conan’s filler

The best filler for me is when it doesn’t change anything on the main subject nor add anything, but keep funny things. The best one for me is the filler after Skypea in One piece where all the crew split up and sneak into a Marine base

It entirely depends on the quality of the filler. Ultimately it does not matter if episodes were in the manga or are anime orginal. Good episodes are worth watching.
The difference comes when its bad. Bad episodes that are main plot related will still feel you leaving disjointed if you skip them. Bad filler episodes that don’t move the overarching plot along can easily be skipped. Now, to be fair if there are too many bad non filler episode you should just drop the series, but thats another matter 🙂

Gonna say that one completely depends on the series. Somthing like Bleach where they interrupt a big fight to give you a couple episodes about some side characters you really don’t care about right now? Skip. Fairy tail filler where it’s a few episodes between major arcs? Watch, it’s a good moment to “catch your breath” after a big fight. Then there’s Gintama’s filler episodes which are sparse, and often some of the funniest episodes in the series. Skipping them would be a crime.

Depends on the filler. Some filler is really bad and boring. But some is still fun to watch, and I’ve even seen a few examples where the filler is really good and I wish it was canon. One Piece has good filler. The few filler arcs it has fit the vibe and slot well into the story. And the G8 filler arc is so amazing that you would think it was made by Oda himself.

Fillers are unnecessary most of the time and are there just to gain some time for the production team.
One episode there’s an exiting plot development, it ends with a cliffhanger and you are waiting a week for new episode.
Now they decided to make a filler and the episode is about mc and its group in a beach party episode…

Don’t skip Gintama fillers.
Gintama is the only anime I know that the fillers are pretty strong and don’t detract from the series. You would struggle to figure out what is filler and what isn’t.

I never would have watched Bleach if I couldn’t skip the filler. I’ve heard too many horror stories of the Bount Arc ruining the show for a lot of people, and after going back to watch it later on, I think it would’ve ruined the show for me too.
amiitoocool on
Good filler shouldnt be skipped, see filler provide character interactions and puts characters in situations they have never been, if the characters navigate the filler while still being in character it’s good filler, if the filler shows the growth of a character before they do something out of character in the main story it’s good filler, however if the filler is there to fill episode space then it’s bad and should be skipped.

Naruto and Boruto get absolutely EXHAUSTING with all that filler.
But I guess there is a point to be made that all that filler connects you to the characters better because just look at how many fans Naruto side characters have, and imo Boruto’s anime serves as a side offering next to the manga because it gets you more attached to the characters than what the manga does (Sumire is a perfect example of this, in the manga she just shows up but in the anime she has an entire dedicated arc).

The quality of filler episodes varies between animes. Judging them or generalising them all at once is a stupid take.

It depends on what kind of filler because if it’s anything like Boruto filler I have every right to skip it 💀
