He already lost his adopted son, Ace. Why would he NOT want to protect his other adopted son? Especially the one that actually wants to be in the military like him.

I don’t get how people are able to defend Garp on letting Ace’s execution happen. The whole “Ace was a pirate!” is bullshit. A lot of other pirates committed a lot of severe crimes and they only ended up behind bars. Hell, Doflamingo and Crocodile enslaved countries but only got chained. In contrast, Ace didn’t have much bad stories about him yet he was sentenced to death. Because let’s be honest, the only reason Marines wanted to execute Ace is because he was Roger’s son. Garp stood by, knowing that his adopted son who he promised his old friend that he would take care of, was being executed just because of a father that long passed before the kid was born.
TLDR: I fucking hate Garp. He may be a hero to the Marines, but he wasn’t a hero to his family like Kuma was.
