This really is becoming a phenomenon now.

    1. Assassination Classroom is the last then-running manga I read remember having a satisfying ending, and that was 8 years ago

Tokyo Ghoul re’s ending was meh, listing what happens to a cast, which worked even less with how easy it was to forget who was who besides the main cast

Demon Slayer shat the hitherto serviceable bed, though the author did have personal problems going on

Seven Deadly Sins shoehorned the Chaos arc to what seemed like a decent end too, though at least it’s got a sequel to make more sense of it

Attack on Titan tripped at the final step with the character assassination

These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head

Aka Akasaka writing straight fire for 2/3s of Kaguya-sama and Oshi no Ko only to phone in the last third

    3. Don’t feel too bad- ive seen actual novel authors do exactly the same thing. First book good, second book great, third book trashes everything previously developed about the main character in order to wedge in a badly written sex scene.

    4. I haven’t heard of a popular manga with an ending that wasn’t at least divisive.

Endings are hard. Theres a reason that Code Geass, a show with so many bad episodes and stupid plot contrivances is so highly regarded.

    6. What are some series you would recommend that don’t do this? I’m so tired of getting invested in a story and it gets ruined.

If it’s a sudden ending, blame the editorial department for cutting the manga off after it became slightly unpopular in the votings for a few weeks.

If the ending drags, blame the editorial department for dragging out a successful manga for way too long.

If the manga got weird and changed from how it used to, blame the editorial department for telling the author to ‘try something new’.

Basically, always blame the editorial department.

    8. Beast Stars ending still just feels like the ending of an arc instead of the entire Manga
