He is called Kageo, and is a monster who peeks behind the scenes of society, sometimes threatening others, and sometimes helping others. One day, this strange man who freely knows the difference between good and evil ends up helping Suhara, the director of a murderous contractor. He gives Suhara an idea for a terrifying perfect crime, which is successfully accomplished, but upon witnessing the scene, he is tormented by conscience and begins to distance himself from Suhara. But Suhara never took her eyes off him. One day, Suhara receives a request for a murder. The target was Kageo. His pen name is a Japanese version of the novelist Edgar Allan Poe. He was a moving maniac and had moved 46 times in his lifetime. After graduating from Waseda University, he worked many jobs before making his debut as a writer in 1923 with “Two Sen Copper Coins.” His 1936 release “The Phantom with Twenty Faces” became a hit and was made into a series aimed at young boys. In his later years, he invested his personal funds to establish the Edogawa Ranpo Prize, and continued his activities through dictation despite suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
