Popular author Minato Kanae’s mystery novel “The Setting Sun”, written in 2019 to mark her 10th anniversary as a writer, has been made into a drama series on WOWOW. Kitagawa, who is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut this year, plays the main character of this work, Kaori Hasebe, an up-and-coming film director who pursues the truth behind the “Sasazuka Family Murder Incident” that occurred 15 years ago. Yoshioka will also be playing the role of Mahiro Kai, a new screenwriter from the same Sasazuka town as Kaori who gets caught up in the whirlpool of fate. This is the first time he has co-starred with Kitagawa.
