15:51 because nowhere near his technique says he can JUST use the receipts, even last episode he said it's hard to explain and megumi also said using receipts isnt just it. his technique is what it says, he can re-enact contracts, contracts have been around for years, especially in the world of sorcery where you give to get, he recreates whats written in that agreement on paper
Ty for the Crunchyroll rant.
I watch a lot of stuff with friends through Discord, but I’ve been consistently pissed off with Crunchyroll the most 😤.
You are both heard, and seen 👍🙂↕️.
Reggies cursed technique is not the usage of receipts but the usage of contracts, receipts are just a form of a contract that he uses in modern days as a reincarnated sorcerer.
Just a heads up about Reggie: We got cleared up by the end of the reaction/after posting on patreon. So if it sounds like we're on the wrong track in the video, don't worry, we got it all cleared up!
Finally megumi fights someone with his level of Battle IQ and not someone with extreme brute force or a tsunami of cursed energy.
15:42 firstly, Reggie is indeed an ancient sorcerer, and one whose cursed technique was greatly benefited by the modern era and their widespread use of “contracts” (Receipts). Also keep in mind these last words of his; it’s greatly implied that a person’s last words in JJK can hold power and easily become curses, even if that wasn’t the dying person’s intention. We see this with Yuji’s grandpa, with his last words of helping others and not dying alone; Yuji proceeds to (unfortunately 😅) become a sorcerer to help people, but also becomes the vessel to Sukuna, a monster that enjoys the suffering of others. Also why Nanami was so hesitant to say anything to Yuji before he died, cause as he said, he didn’t want his words to become a curse to Yuji. And now an ancient sorcerer INTENTIONALLY curses Megumi with his dying breath sooo… ig we’ll see how that develops later in the story.
the cockroach is waiting for specific scenario, because they have the 4 way deadlock, nobody is willing to do anything because if they attack , some of the players could took advantage of them when they started fighting, so his just waiting for the right time to come out again to fight
Bro how much yall think 15 year olds wheight? 😭😭. I dont even weight that, but Megumi is taller then me too. Not everyone is 190cm
Megumi is NOT 132 lbs hes prob 5’10-5’11 165-170 lbs
Receipts have been a thing for thousands of years. Simply that it just hasn’t been exactly the same, it still had the same function of reenacting contracts
I think the thing with Hollow Wicker Basket and Simple Domain is that they basically do the same things. Both are specifically made for negating the sure-hit effect (which is a property of all domains, and isn't necessarily sure-kill in the old days), but we've seen that a simple domain is ultimately also a domain, so its an improvement in that it seems to be more modular and capable of being an offensive strat as well as a defensive one.
What was different about the old days was that domains weren't sure-kill specifically. Any "modern"-type domain pretty much (Gojo, Sukuna, Mahito, etc.), you are basically 100% dead if you are caught in it without anti-domain tech. But with old-style ones like Higuruma, its more of a gimmick than a win-con, something to make you stronger or to enact some kind of condition (that seems to go both ways as well, at least with Higuruma) but not necessarily just one-hit your opponent. HWB seems to be something made to fight back against all domains in general, as it basically forces your opponent to use only hands, as their CT is engraved into the domain, meaning that it would get negated. What happened with Megumi is that he specifically has zero sure-hit since its an incomplete domain, so his technique could go through and hit Reggie.
ancient simurians had what's the modern day equivalent of receipts as stone tablets
7:54 he is 16-17 right now, so pretty possible.
Next week we finally get that panel!!!!
Minor thing: but Yuta's fight in Sendai is happening approximately 32 minutes before Yuji and Megumi (and also Hakari and Panda) enter their colonies.
It seems tengen hasn’t told the others theres another reason behind the games, based on what Reggie said and he knows tengen. It doesn’t seem like tengen is bad but there must be a reason why he never shared this information? I don’t think he trusts someone in the group? Maybe yuki? He didn’t seem fond of her.
Seeing yuta and megumi killing people is such a huge turn from yuji. I feel the dynamic may change now with yuji and megumi since yuji didn’t want to kill people, and he only entered the games to help megumis sister. He isn’t going to be happy knowing fushiguro killed others when they were suppose to transfer points.
The new Crunchyroll player also just feels even more broken than the old one. Several times it hasn't let me skip forward in the video using the progress bar itself, the video just keeps playing normally while keeping the preview of the time I tried to jump to frozen on the screen. It's ridiculous
hollow wicker basket does not counter the guaranteed hit factor specifically, it counters the barrier of the domain, wich includes the rules of the domain , one of wich happens to be the guaranteed hit factor
the civil war of wa happened in 180 ad btw
Reggie would have been a special grade if he was born today, he had so little amount of time and resources due to be ancient sorcerer brought he by kenjaku, and japan using mostly paper receipts makes it so water is a weakness.
if he had the resources he could have easily paid people to find receipts, and to get his hands on military receipts in the USA, RUSSIA, CHINA.
Reggie could have missiles, guns, and grenades and even nukes as well~
So, interesting tidbit. Dhruv Lakdawalla was a sorcerer from the era of the "Civil War of Wa." Known Japanese written historical accounts only exist as reliable sources from the 6th century but information about the Civil War of Wa comes from Chinese chronicles of the affairs of the people on the Japanese archipelago, this acount in particular places the Civil War of Wa as taking place in the 2nd Century.
Either Dhruv figured out how to preserve his soul as a cursed object earlier than any other charcter; or, Kenjaku has been farting around Japan for a long ass time, which raises some interesting questions about what sorcery as a practice even is and where the hell it comes from.
Regime called his technique recreation of contracts, so basically any sign of contract can be used for his technique, in modern day receipts.
HELLO HELLO JULIEEEEEET
7:07 if he dropped the cars from the top they would have just went straight back into the domain weighing him down again
Next episode will be solid
Jane Juliet has the high CE output
Good video.
The quality drop of these reactions is starting to get concerning. I know you've said that you have some things going on your personal life but it's still a shame. To name a few things
– reggie technique is contract recreation nor receipts recreation. Contracts have existed for thousands of years so there's nothing weird about it
– you just forgot what was said by tengen. All domain expansions have a sure hit, the difference is whether the sure hit is also sure kill (like pretty much all domains we've seen) or doesn't have a way to directly harm the opponent (like higuruma's). Hollow wicker basket and simple domain would work on all of them
– reggie knew kenjaku and tengen so of course he wasn't an awakened sorcerer. Awakened sorcerers have no knowledge of the jujutsu society and need to figure it on their own like it was explained with higuruma
– you saw angel but most likely forgot what the deal with angel is so had no reaction even though it should be a wtf moment. This is a recurring thing of you no longer looking deeper into what's happening (like it was when you didn't even question why kashimo would believe that sukuna is part of the culling games)
Potential man showing his potential hahaha
Here is the current situation about 4 culling game players in Sendai:
1. Kurourushi doesn't want to fight Dhruv because his insects are relatively weak and will easily die to Dhruv's shikigami domain.
2. Dhruv doesn't want to fight Ryu because his output is so strong he can just bulldoze right through Dhruv's shikigami domain.
3. Ryu doesn't want to fight Uro because his massive energy beams can be redirected by her.
4. Uro doesn't want to fight Kurourushi because her ability can't deal with numbers too well.
Uro > Ryu > Dhruv > Kurourushi > Uro
This is 4 way deadlock!
Reggie is an ancient sorcerer but I think, considering his battle IQ and outstanding intelligence and cunnning, he was able to grasp how modern sorcerers generally fight. It would explain why he specifically used hollow wicker basket and why he was so caught off-guard by Megumi's lack of sure hit effect. He seems to have adjusted to modern life as we see him using a phone lol.
Jujutsu Kaisen.
The season's adaptation and pacing is trash
About Domains: ALL proper Domains have a "guaranteed hit" factor (Higuruma's is the "no violence" rule). What used to be less common was a "guaranteed kill". Meaning, they focused more on using their guaranteed hits as backup for fighting inside a domain than instakilling their opponent like Mahito or Sukuna
Hey guys. Minor correction: Domains have guaranteed-hit factors, older and newer versions. But older versions didn't always have a guaranteed-kill factor, like if you enter it, you die. They simply forced rules on the opponent – most of which weren't meant to kill.
Nice reaction! On Megumi not ejecting the cars from the ceiling, I think the problem is that it would just fall down and sink back into the shadow again. So he would get some relief from enduring the weight but it’d only be temporary.
Reggie's abilities is not to summon receipts, its reenacting contracts. He is just conveniently using reciepts (which are in abundance in the modern world) as a channel for his ability. And also, why are we acting as reciepts are a 21st century exclusive? He could be an "old" Sorcerer that just died in 1988 for all we know. And "reciepts" were a thing even in the BC times.
Ancient domains had guaranteed hit effects they were just less deadly and relied more on rules/binding vows. So nullifying that would've been super valuable meaning you wouldn't have to follow the domains rules if you used Hollow Wicker Basket.
Crunchyroll does everything it can to make watching anime on their platform the worst possible experience.
22:45 just to clear up some confusion on hollow wicker basket, even ancient domains had a "guaranteed hit" effect they just weren't necessarily lethal in of themselves, so instead of the guaranteed hit being an attack that instantly killed the target it would usually be some sort of rule imposed on the target that gives the domain caster an advantage. For example, the guaranteed hit effect of Higuruma's domain is the "non violence pact", in of itself it's not exactly conducive to winning a fight but imposing that rule with his domain in conjunction with his technique ensures that Higuruma can complete a trial and get the benefits from Judgeman's sentencing.
In contrast, modern sorcerers' typically can only conceive of a guaranteed hit effect as being also guaranteed to kill, making it more difficult for them to cast a domain and thus making domains as a whole much rarer. Going back to Higuruma, if his idea of a sure hit for his domain was instead something like "A cut from the Executioner's Sword" he probably would not be able to cast a domain with that sure hit. (Disregarding the fact that his domain is necessarily a part of the whole that is his technique, that was just the first example I thought of)
