Ishtar's plans were seriously diabolical, and thanks to Gil's pride and carelessness, in tossing off a copy of his Vault's key, Ishtar plans worked wonderfully without a hitch. Like seriously, if Gil had just destroy the spare Bab-ilu key, rather than tossing it away, Ishtar won't have such an easy time in disadvantaging Gil. Without access to the Gate of Babylon, even the King of Heroes is cooked. Especially with the damn HUMBABA as his enemy.

Gilgamesh didnβt lose from arrogance this time, he lost by literal divine intervention.
The moment I found out that ISHTAR was going to show up, I knew it was over. Ishtar is the goddess of war, love, fertility, power, and kings, she does not lose. No one in this War has ANY idea who they are now up against and none of them have any hope whatsoever of standing up to her all on their own. Gilgamesh might be the first hero, but Ishtar was the first goddess.
