Ayaka and Saber are not in a servant and master relationship. They’re just connected through a magical energy pact that differ then a traditional master and servant relationship. Also Richard has referred to Ayaka by her name not a master. The reason Saber is following Ayaka is because she’s literally a victim, she’s been somehow forced to join the HGW by the Einzbern.

If a master dies, a servant can keep going if they have specific skills or find a new source of mana to effectively leech on.
Heracles' master prefarmed the mat and insta max the levels and ascension
Richard does say in ep 2 the reason he doesn't leave her alone is because they are connected via magical energy
so she technically summon him
but is not his master
Ayaka was pretty much forced to participate by the girl with red eyes from ep 2 that you also see in ep 1
So, Fate Strange/Fake is pretty confusing and has more participants than a normal Holy Grail War. Heres a resume of the 12 masters and servants that have already appeared:
Fake Holy Grail War:
Archer: Gilgamesh, the king of Uruk. (Master: Tiné Chelc)
Lancer: Enkidu, Gil's best friend (Master: The wolf chimera)
Rider: Weird shadow thing (Master: Tsubami Kuruoka, the girl in a coma)
Berserker: Jack the Ripper (Master: Flat Escardos)
Assassin: No Name Assassin (Master: Jester Karture, a dead apostle)
Caster: Still unamed, seens to be a famous writer (Master: Orlando Reeves, the police chief)
True Holy Grail War:
Saber: Richard Lionheart (technically doesnt have a master, but Ayaka Sajyou has been supporting him mana like one)
Archer/Avenger: Alcides (Alcides is Heracles's birth name, he was transformed into an Alter by his master Bazdilot Cordelion, using the same cursed mud that corrupted Saber in Heavens Feel)
Rider: Hippolyta (Master: ?)
Assassin: One of the Hassan (Master: Faldeus Dioland)
Caster: François Prelati (Master: Françesca Prelati)
François was an occultist and Gilles de Rais' teacher (the caster from Fate/Zero). Like Gilles, he was executed for his many crimes, but François managed to reincarnate uaing magecraft, bodyhopping until the modern age, eventually summoning his past self as a servant.
Berserker: Has not appeared yet.
Watcher: Unidentified servant, not an actual heroic spirit? Says that their master, Sigma, will become Lancer.
On a side note, Sigma is the son of Maya Hisao, who was Kiritsugu's assistant and lover in Fate/Zero.
OH MY GOD. The subtitles are wrong!!! I can speak Spanish and German and in those subtitles watcher says: “SHES NOT HER (assassins) MASTER. “ Which is also what he says in the light novel. The English subtitles just suck.
So Heracles got like factory reset by the Command Spells stripping him of his identity as this heroic person Heracles and back to Alcides and with the Holy Grail Mud where it further corrupted him turning him into the Avenger class basically a vengeful spirit like Angra Mainyu from the OG Fate stuff he's the Archer class/Avenger bc of how they tweaked him
and Scar Red is a nickname of Aozaki Touko she's this busted mage like for no reason at all lol but she's dope u mainly see her in Kara no Kyoukai, she can also be seen in Case Files of Lord El Melloi, and she was kinda shown in Heaven's Feel she made the puppet body for Shirou she's one of the best puppet mage in the verse she's a problem so not surprise she clapped someone like Prelati
pretty sure Richard understands that Ayaka isn't his Master so he calls him Ayaka and Richard also said in ep 2 that "I get that you're not my Master but bc of you I'm existing so I'll protect you"
Man its amazing that we will get a New Lancer Hero out of this series but his trial is fighting against literal Gods 😂. If Emiya was able to become a great Archer hero, Im sure he’ll become a great Lancer assasin mix
as far as i understood, Ayaka is not technically the master of Richard, she got mana-linked to him due to the original master dying a the same time her "Einzbern tattoos" touched the altar whilst Saber was being summoned. She doesn't have command spells, she is just giving him mana (i haven't read the manga so i don't know if my appreciation is entirely correct, so i apologize in advance)
The "noname Master" + Watcher situation in this war can be compared to Shirō Emiya’s case. Shirō only becomes a Heroic Spirit (EMIYA) after his life ends, through a contract with Alaya, and then gets summoned later. The "noname Master", on the other hand, is still alive, and Watcher is pushing him through trials so he can become the “True Lancer” during the current war itself.
Both are humans turning into something equivalent to a Servant, but the timing and method are completely different.
4:38 Damn good one, that's also the community's theory (even in the LN their name hasn't been revealed). Earhart is definitely one of the lesser known figure here, I'm surprised you immediately thought of her.
Concerning the rant, I'm not surprised you didn't get it, even in the LN, as someone who's deep into Fate, it wasn't clear and I thought she was his Master at first. Like what happened with Kirei and Gilgamesh in Zero.
Also, I'm so glad they kept the reference to Scar Red, it's not really useful to Strange Fake's plot but she is one of the coolest recurring characters. If you have the time you should try watching the Kara no Kyoukai movies, where she is one of the main characters. It's a great series of movies made by UFOTABLE before they worked on Zero, they're great although a bit confusing at first.
Also its weird being immortal and be able to summon your younger self as a hero. Imagine if Sakuna in Yujis body can Summon Sakuna from his Golden Age of curses.
This isn’t a normal Holy Grail War like the ones we usually see, where a Servant disappears after all three Command Spells are used. In Snowfield, a Servant can keep existing even without a Master
, they just lose the absolute binding of the Command Seals and may run out of mana depending on how powerful they are.
