      roshi, 9:53 , heracles is still hercules btw, the name is pronounced differently in two different languages or dialects whichever one. i also was confused myself at first

      Alcides is actually Herakles/Heracles's kind of birth name, the one he was given by his human adoptive parents. Herakles literally means "Glory to Hera/Glory of Hera" and was a name intended to ease Hera's hatred for him. Which didn't work. Like, at all.

      Also, an interesting bit about the sword Gilgamesh takes from around half the fight. That sword is called Merodach (from the Mesopotamian God Marduk). It's the prototype of the Sword of Selection, like Caliburn (the sword King Arthur draws from the stone in some versions of the myth, including in Fate lore) and Gram from Norse mythology. It's his third most precious and powerful treasure after Ea and Enkidu, the Chains of Heaven, and one of the few weapons Gil is actually an expert at using in direct combat. He only draws it to test an opponent to see if they're strong enough for him to use Ea. Drawing it is already a big deal for Gil as it means he actually notices his foe as someone worth using more of his power.

      Alcides is Heracles birth name he took the name Heracles as a way of appeasing Hera for being one of Zeus' bastard kids also Hippolyta was the queen of the Amazons who slept with Herc went he was doing his 12 labors but he killed her for her belt in some versions it says there was a rumor about her being kidnapped by Herc and his crew

      Hercules and Heracles are the same hero. Hercules is the Roman name. Heracles is the Greek name. Alcides is the birth name of Hercules/Heracles. Also, Hippolyta is a Rider (duh, the fucking horse), not Archer. Gilgamesh is Archer.

      info on Heracles/Alcides. Alcides was his original prior to his 12 labors. His class is Archer but during his summoning his class was changed to Avenger, nerfing him (I think). Hence why True Rider mentioned she'd never think Alcides/Heracles would never attack a kid. (Heracles 12 labors because he killed his wife and child in a forced frenzy)

      My understanding; Archer Heracles > Avenger Alcides > other classes > Berserker Heracles, his mind made him a true threat but Berserker Heracles lacks that, making him the weakest version by technically

      Here to clear up the confusion.

      There are currently 2 holy grail wars, the fake one and the real one

      the fake was used as a catalyst to gather enough magic in snowfield to summon the real servants

      The fake war only has 6 servants (no saber class)

      and the real one has the usual 7 and Richard was the first one to be summoned

      it seemed that you guys were under the impression that there were 3 servants of each class which is false (its only 2)

      so Hippolyta is actually a rider class with the proof being her evil and intimidating horse

      Alcides is Heracles' original human name. He was renamed Heracles after Hera in hopes of appeasing her; it didn't work. Hercules is his Roman name. Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, (Wonder Woman's mother in DC) is most famous for having been killed by Heracles during one of his labors.

      Alcides is the given birth name of Hercules/Herecles and in fate different incarnations of the same person can be summon in different classes base on their legends and extensive mythologies that they came from

      Is this Yaboyroshi's first introduction to a Ryogo Narita's work? Because all of his consists of lots of character cast and all of them are interweaven to be all relevant to the plot. So if you're not paying attention to minute details, it would fly over your mind what just transpired.

      Such as Francesca's Servant bearing the same speech pattern as Francesca herself.

      – Richard can have the souls of those who give him consent in life accompany him, they provide Magecraft and other abilities

      Saw some of the comments and wanted to add a little bit more to them:
      1. Alcides is Heracles real name he changed his name after he killed his wife and kids ( thats why Hyppolyta was mad at him for targeting the kid) to Heracles, it's means Glory of Hera (Hera tricked him to kill his family).
      2. Hyppolyta met Heracles when he did the 9th labour which was to get Hyppolyta's belt, she wanted to give it to him but when they met Hera came down and told the Amazons, that Heracles kidnapped her and the Amazons attacked him , because of it he killed them and Hyppolyta too.
      3. Heroic spirits can be summond in a different class for example Artoria can be summoned in all the 7 class and as a Ruler. Avanger is a Special class like Ruler it's rare.

      Heracles and Hercules are the same thing, Alcides is Heracles name before he got divine powers and named after the goddess Hera.
      Hes just summoned as an Archer class / Avenger this time instead of berserker like last time. (this way he still maintains his intelligence, in previous versions he was basically a mindless beast)

      It's kind of a small scene, but Faldeus did summon an Assassin. That mask is mostly used by Hassan I Sabbah, the old man in the mountain and originally the only Assassin that can be summon with the normal Grail due to the fact that Hassan is the origin of the english word that gives the class the name. Because there were a lot of people using the name Hassan over the years, any of them can be summoned with it. Fate/Zero had Hassan of Hundred Faces, Fate Stay/Night (UBW and Heaven's feel) had Hassan of the Cursed Arm.

      There is also Hassan of Serenity, Hassan of Intoxicated Smoke, Hassan of Shining Star, Hassan of Quakin Pipe, Hassan of Shadow-Peeling and First Hassan (King Hassan)

      In Episode Zero, when he summoned Assassin, Jester did ask her why she did not have the mask that they usually wear.

      Thanks to disney I guess people really associate him with Hercules but no it was never Hercules, thats what the romans call him(n in context of Fate you cannot really confuse the 2 cuz one can summon an ACTUAL Hercules from roman version of the myth n it will be completely different person), its always been Heracles from greek myth n the same dude from Fate Stay Night, a hero can be summoned on ANY class they are famous with n depend on the hero it MIGHT be stronger, yes Heracles has a history of being "crazy" but he is more famous as the great hero who complete the 12 labor, we know he has Hippolyta's war sash(which makes the 2 of them have the same ability in this war funny enough) n whatever beast he killed to make that hide in his face , assuming Archer has 12 godly strong weapons he got from his labors instead of the 12 respawn he has as Berserker, this Heracles is no joke 🤣
