Maomao, along with the Jinji and the emperor, visits an old temple where he can choose the next heir to the throne. The line must pass through a room divided into colors. Miyoshi recalls his childhood and adoptive parents, and depicts his loneliness. On the move, Maomao discovers that the emperor is color blind (the indistinguishable between red and green), and with her quick thinking, she passes by safely. As this disease is inherited by the royal family, Maomao doubts Michi’s bloodline. It is suggested that Mineji is the right person to be the emperor, but he continues to hide his true identity. Empress Dowager Yasu calls Maomao and orders him to solve the mystery of the “curse” that prevents the body of the previous emperor from corrupting. After investigation, Maomao found that the cause of the body becoming inrotect was chronic poisoning from arsenic found in bedroom paint. This truth destroys the superstition of the “curse of immortality.” This episode also depicts the Empress Dowager’s solitary life and the harsh life leading to his acquittal power, and it is revealed that she is a terrifying and pathetic being. The dark past of the previous emperor is revealed. He was obsessed with young girls and repeatedly did unforgivable actions. The complicated relationship between the current emperor and the empress dowager is also highlighted. Miyoshi is the half-brother of the current emperor, but his true identity has been hidden and treated as a pawn in politics. This fact leaves Miyoshi with even more loneliness. Maomao feels that the royal family reveals ugliness and tricks with each layer of it like an onion. #Apologies’ Monologies #kusuriyanohitorigoto #makkachan
