“Megumi no Daigo” is a Japanese manga written by Masato Soda. It won the 42nd Shogakukan Manga Award in 1996 and the Manga Division Excellence Award at the 2nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 1998. Also in 1998, the main character, Daigo Asahina, was chosen as the image character of the Tokyo Fire Department. The episode number is “No. XX”. In the summer of 1999, it was made into an anime film as “Megumi no Daigo Kajiba no Bakayaro” at “Okage Summer! Japan National Sunday Festival!!”. In 2004, it was made into a TV drama on Fuji TV as “FIRE BOYS ~Megumi no Daigo~” (Fire Boys Megumi no Daigo).[2]. In 2020, the sequel “Megumi no Daigo Kyukoku no Orange” will be serialized.[1]. As of August 2022, the cumulative number of copies of the series has exceeded 14 million copies.[3]. As of September 2024, the cumulative number of copies of “Megumi no Daigo: Rescue of the Country Orange” has exceeded 1.3 million copies.[4].
