I remember the first time I watched the film, I cried so much, even though I was just a kid. This movie will always be one of the greatest in the history of cinema. I truly admire it 🥺🥺

“Grave of the Fireflies” is based on a short story by Akiyuki Nosaka, which was inspired by his own life experiences. He wrote it as a way to express his regret over the death of his younger sister, who passed away from malnutrition. Nosaka also lost his adoptive father during the bombing of Kobe, so much of what the characters endure in the story reflects the hardships he personally faced

This movie had me in tears for weeks. Seriously, if you’re sensitive, you might want to skip it. It’s based on a true story, and just knowing that can be really heavy and depressing

My 14 year old son said he wanted to watch this. He made it to end of the first fire bombing in the hospital before he started to just sob.
We live a good life in America.
