  1. Hello all, welcome back to this rabbit hole. Rest assured, it’s okay if you forgot some minor plot details. We’re all here for the nonsense racing anyway.

  2. LegendRazgriz on

Hello, hello, everyone! MFG is back after a year! And with it returns the fan favorite Eurobeat Corner, presented by yours truly!

Jumping straight into the qualifying stage for the Ashinoko GT, we’re treated to two songs right off the bat – Kanata’s death area magic is treated to [2 Love 4 Love](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=v4bGO10gfnQ&si=knsOqMEJjGTKMt_l) by SCP’s premier boy-girl duo Pamsy & Ace, and Beckenbauer’s imperious charge through the standings is accompanied by [Spirit of the Night](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lxTVWx1IATY&si=M0Uhj-ord7PJOnrE) by David Dima – yes, it’s David Dima’s this time! Before I organize a playlist, I actually have a question for y’all. Do you want me to add these songs to a new “Second Season” playlist or would you rather have them added to the tail end of the original? I can do it both ways.

    • Another course, another death zone? Damn it, Ryosuke, this isn’t Speed Racer! What next, a bunch of pitfall traps? That being said, it’s interesting that Kanata is essentially applying lessons that Takumi himself learned while battling – his duel against Sakamoto and the diminutive Cappuccino in Fourth Stage, where the rally driver proudly proclaims his technique of overcoming uncontrollable understeer by applying controlled oversteer in such low grip conditions, be it rain, gravel or volcanic ash. Also, drifting looks cool. That’s it.

    • FOOD! It wouldn’t be a non-racing episode of MFG without Kanata losing it over how good everything tastes. It’s okay, lad, you’re not in England anymore, the days of eating cement paste are over. Things have flavor now.

    • Man, Beckenbauer’s such a dick. I mean, we sorta knew that when he went basically one step out of going full Nazi last time round, but still. Dude has no sense of fun or pride of anything that isn’t how white he is. _And yet,_ I have to applaud him for knocking Sawatari out of P1 as he’s going off to… do very Sawatari things. Ugh, this fucking guy, I swear. Literally 90% of the reason why I can’t recommend this to people is that they’re gonna get to him sooner or later.

After a wait that felt longer than it was, we’re finally back! And, it seems, we’ll be jumping right into the teeth of the race next week already! The threat posed by rain is seemingly a factor too… I can’t wait! See ya then!

It’s about time the anime started airing again, I couldn’t wait any longer. I really liked Kanata’s approach to the course, he looks like a rally driver. The flashback showing him with Takumi is a plus for the series.

The animation was perfect as always. Eurobeat is back with 2 Love 4 Love by SCP’s premier boy-girl duo Pamsy & Ace, and Beckenbauer’s imperious charge through the standings is accompanied by Spirit of the Night by David Dima

i don’t particularly watch this anime. but whenever I see it on here my brain goes “mother fuckin ghost..”

Welcome back! While excited, I just noticed one slight descrepancy. The model that Michael drives, is the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS (it even has a sticker on the door, and the 718 can be figured by the tail lights). The commentator said the engine is 2,5 litre in displacement, but that is wrong. It is a 4-litre, flat-6 NA engine. They probably meant the older 987 or even the first generation of Caymans. Even then, if I recall, the engines were 2,7-litre. It might be something with him being a Porsche driver and having the mechanics do some work, but I highly doubt it.

Not something major, just a small thing a petrolhead has noticed. The show is the same as before, not a masterpiece, but entertaining at the very least. Let’s see what happens next!

  6. I am so glad David Dima’s “Spirit of the Night” made it into the song list. Ever since I knew about MF Ghost and read the manga, it was the song I thought would fit the series.

But I am disappointed it wasn’t used for Kanata’s run instead. I just thought that it fits the succession as the Legend of the Street and the “Spirit” of Takumi being in him (yes, Takumi is pretty much alive but we don’t see him like Keisuke and Ryosuke and his tragic rally accident backstory adds such a feeling).

  7. Felix Filim really upped their game with this one, both seasons feels like a world apart, and we’re jumping to the actual race immediately next episode? I can’t wait!!

  8. That whole back- and- forth about the traction control felt kind of stupid. Driving without traction control is pretty normal when you get to higher levels of competitive racing and, considering that Kanata went to a racing school, it seems weird that he only waited until now to have it turned off. Plus, I don’t get what the mechanic guy meant about Kanata asking him to turn it off… it’s extremely common for traction control in sports cars to have an on/ off switch on the control panel, so he literally could have just hit the button at any time

Episode 1: **Descent of the White Reaper**

Finally, a sequel I can watch on Fall. Actually two with Ron Kamonohashi tomorrow. **FelixFilm** is really busy in this season with **3** anime (MFG, Talker and Maid-sama).

If you’re in Asia, sadly this one isn’t available on **Crunchyroll** (Medialink indeed got the license, but locked it behind the Ultra subscription instead of normal Ani-One. Probably due to Asia has a big fanbase of Initial D and they want to capitalize that). As with season 1, you got 2 choices to watch legally. Watch simulcast on **Ani-One Ultra** or **Amazon Prime Video** (besides, they also got Magilumiere now) or wait for binge watch somewhere on Winter, as probably this will made it to **Netflix** in Asia if the licensing is similar with Season 1**.**

From Oshi no Ko let’s turn our attention to (Lake) Ashinoko! I believe FelixFilm really relies on the CGI here, the characters are well drawn, but I’ve seen limited movements and using of slideshows when possible.

MFG got a red eyecatcher, now in the 2nd Season they use the orange eyecatcher. It’s nice that they still keep it. Still can’t believe Kanata learn drifting in a Honda S2000 of all FR cars.

I don’t know if I’ve said it last year, but a little detail that at least there are 2 tyre manufacturers in MFG. Yokohama (as seen in Kanata’s car) and Bridgestone (as seen in Ishigami and Beckenbauer’s Porsches). You can see them in close up shots.

You might miss it, but one of the man watching Kanata/Beckenbauer’s qualifying run is voiced by **Shogo Sakata** (Blue Archive’s Sensei. Also voicing MFG’s Yanagida) and Maezono’s VA, **Takumu Miyazono** also got a voice role as Michael’s race engineer.

OP: [Yuu Serizawa feat. motsu – ROCK ME KISS ME](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XtD__V0OB0). How fitting, her VA posing in front of Alfa Romeo 4C.

ED: [Himika Akaneya – Side U (Prod. AmPm)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSQdnKQT9rM). [TV size song available](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=EEQjgTpe-7E).

  10. Bruh why aren’t they giving the 86 a power boost to allow Kanata to reach first place? I can’t wait to see if they finally decide to do that to watch Kanata humble Beckenbauer

  11. oneevilchicken on

The whole back and forth about turning TC off makes no sense considering that’s probably one of the first things getting turned off on an underpowered car like that by a professional driver.

  12. Babe, wake up, peak vroom vroom is back.

Real talk, when I first binged MF Ghost right after it came out I didn’t expect it to make my top 3 of the season. This time around it has some contenders in Re:Zero, Dandadan and the like but I’m sure it’ll edge at least a top 5 spot.

  13. SogePrinceSama on

Lol, my brother’s birthday is coming up mid-October, but I got him an early birthday gift. The ONLY anime he’s ever watched religiously is Initial D and ‘that Mutha-F***in’ GHOST’ aka MF Ghost cause he’s a car racing geek but not exactly an anime lover.

Haha, he’s so excited Kanata’s back to teach people how to drift in literal volcanic ash!

  14. flightlessCat9 on

lol they waited until season 2 to explain what 2L NA means (and it was a terrible explanation).

  15. Oh great… The Angels are back.

Huh. I’m surprised she’s not working.

    Qualis again?

Uh oh, less grip with the track means it’s going to be harder to take corners at speed.

    So, drifting?

    Yup, traction control off.

And so Eurobeat and drifting. This is Initial D all right.

Yeah… The Toyota GT86 is really crap. Like almost comically so.

NA means no Turbo _or_ supercharger. Or both.

Well his car is just bad.

Especially on a long straight, it’ll lose tons of time to literally anything with more power. It’s the bane of slow cars.

He’ll need to build up a big lead to give himself a buffer.

Right, qualis are over. Now time for the actual race.

Fittingly enough I’m actually on holiday in the UK right now.

He really is his dad isn’t he?

Nope, I’m pretty sure the Lambo and the Ferrari might just be quicker than the Porsche, at least on paper.

British seafood… I’ve got another 4 days here and I’m already sick of fish and chips…

Back to the Porsche factory team. What amazing new wunderwaffen have the boffins at Porsche’s motorsports division cooked up this time?

… That’s it? Better suspension? Don’t get me wrong properly tuned suspension can have a big impact but I was expecting something more impressive…

Huh. What’s he doing that for?

Why’s he sitting behind the Alpine?

Oh, right, the Alpine is driven by _this_ guy.

    So early in the morning?

And thus the Porsche takes the lead with a new course record.

And so the race begins next episode. Seems like there’s a new green Mercedes now? An AMG GT. And the race will be in the wet. Best get those wet tyres on.

  16. Episode was going so well until they had to put the 17 year old obsessed pedo on my screen fuckk, can’t this dude get in a car crash or something

Kanata qualifying and pushing the 86 to its limits was dope though, as usual the Eurobeat really made that moment even more hype. Really just a nice appetiser for what should be an action packed season. Hard to believe it’s been a year irl since this was airing and I’m looking forward to another 3 months of racing.
