Not sure if it’s “lately” or just that most long mangas have overcomplicated endings. Which imo does NOT makes these endings better than a conventional good ending, mostly because the not-so-good writing tend to become much more obvious when trying too hard to do something incredible.

They all went longer and beyond the creators original plan. Most of these initially have a much shorter story, but once they get successful they’re urged to stretch and alter the original storyline to make as much money as possible. Having great manga is both a blessing and a curse.

Well tbh AOT ending was maybe not the best but we should respect it anyway because the author definitely intended to do something.
They may have failed, but it was not driven by the idea they wanted to end asap (like MHA or Demon slayer)

People really on here trying to defend AoT’s ending is funny, I mean Eren is arguably the first mainstream anime MC to get canonically NTR’ed in his own series.
I mean it’s ok to like it obviously, but to ignore the fact that it most definitely was a divisive ending is just silly. Compared to AoT’s ending MHA’s ending is a masterpiece.

It was good as a comedy but it was not what this anime/manga deserved
Endings are hard. Especially with a medium where you publish a chapter a week and you have to end at a specific chapter number.
