I didn’t feel especially attached to FMAB like I did for Frieren
Don’t get me wrong, FMAB is a very good anime but its bit overhyped.
Blurghblagh on
Haven’t watched Frieren yet but FMAB doesn’t even make my top 25.

FMA is good but i feel like part of why its so popular is mainly nostalgia. A lot of us probably watched it when we were first getting into Anime since its such recommended for new watchers.
Having watched hundreds of anime now, FMA is no longer in my top 10.

FMA was better than FMAB so Frieren put it to shame.

One is finished, the other one is not.
Frieren can surpass fmab? Absolutely yes, it has everything to do it, but I won’t judge anything, until it’s done.
People always say how fmab is full nostalgia, but I watched it was in college already, and gave something that’s very rare in the Manga Anime industry, a satisfactory ending, same was Code Geass did (at that time), I really want Frieren to give me that too because I love the story in the world in it.

Frieren anime is 10/10 in every fucking aspect
FMA B is 9.5/10
FMA B has shot for shot animations with key manga frames
Frieren has anime enhanced shots in most of the shots and better bc of it (Ubel vs Ubel fight, Frieren copy’s entrance etc)
FMA B manga is the 10/10

Fieren might’ve been AotY for me in 2023 but I doubt it will be for 2024. It had a very nice start and middle, but that tournament arc? Idk. It was kinda cool for the first episode or two, but it took up way too much time and I dropped it about 4 episodes in. Felt like it had become a drastically different show than the one I was watching and didn’t give me confidence in it’s ability going forward. It’s been a while since I watched FMAB and though I do realize that if you didn’t watch the og series first, where the first few episodes fit better, then it is a little clunky at the beginning, there wasn’t any pacing issues for the rest of the series

Frieren the most overrated show of the decade
TDderpy on
Honestly I don’t understand how frieren got so popular or so highly reviewed. It started off strong, and I was enjoying it but by the end I just wasn’t enjoying It.
The animation was pretty yes, and the characters intrigued me at first. But no-one changed or grew in any significant amount despite the years that supposedly past.
A great example of this for me was the 6 months they spent together trapped in a tiny cabin. Not a single person seemed to have any of their bonds together change after literally being trapped together for 6 months in a single room without leaving.
That and the magic system made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Frieren is supposedly the peak of mages in the land but she can’t cast a spell she doesn’t have specific instructions for, or even change a single spell to expand it’s capabilities? Multiple times she’s unable to do anything because she has a spell that only does one specific thing and can’t possibly be used for something else. For example “I have a spell that opens locks on a door” but that won’t work for a lock on this chest.
Yet at the same time when it’s convenient for the plot shes able to use her vast magical knowledge to overcome something. The best example off the top of my head for this was when she destroyed the magic barrier during the competition.
Overall it’s not a bad show and I did enjoy watching it, I just can’t see how everyone seems to feel it’s the best thing to ever exist.

Until Frieren ends, and that ending is a good, well written ending unlike recent endings of anime/manga, then I don’t see how it can be better than a well crafted show with a good ending. One of the main reasons why I can’t place AoT higher than FMAB, despite liking AoT WAY more until season 4, is that it didn’t stick the landing for me.
Downvote me all you want, but Freiren is massively overrated. Dungeon Meshi managed to build a world in a dungeon way more interesting than Freiren’s supposedly limitless universe.

At this point, this meme format is waaay too overdone…
They’re both good shows, but let’s not act like any particular show, manga, or light novel can be better than anything and everything.
There’s no No.1 in entertainment.
Ratings are based on three factors.
1) people who exclusively went out of their way to vote.
2) People who may **or may not** have watched it to begin with.
3) personal preference of content/entertainment.
As we grow as people, we will usually keep a place for things that have had large impacts on our lives one way or another, but preferences change, and there’s always a new show out almost every season.
It’s getting too repetitive to see this every time an at least half decent anime is released, happened with Spy x Family, happened with JJKS, now frieren…
Let this ordeal die out.

I think I might be the only one, but as much as I like Frieren, I’m not nearly as interested, immersed, or excited by it as most of my favorite shows. It’s absolutely great, but the extremely low energy of the show makes it a hard watch for me. Like Natsume’s book of friends or Mushishi. I can do it, but I have to take it in chunks.

They’re both great shows but Frieren is a temporarily good show/manga. Why you ask? The series still hasn’t ended. Supposedly AOT or MHA were highly rated *BOOM* wack ass ending. Oshi No Ko 1st episode was seen like some masterpiece and some people wanted it to take FMAB’s spot and *BOOM* generic high school/love triangle show. An unfinished series can’t compete with a finished series.

FMAB is Perfect.
It maintained top position for so long.
It would have maintained that position for even longer if not for haters who thought every FMAB fan is 1 star rating their favourite anime.
It is a well known fact that rating go down by the end of the season. But people could not accept that fact.

It’s a proof of brain damage to judge anime series based on their MAL scores. That’s like saying Attack on Titan is a better manga than Naruto because it has a higher MAL score.
Don’t ever use MAL scores to judge an anime, manga, or light novel. It will make you look so stupid.
